Volunteer Lead Facilitator
Rothwell
Brotherhood Men’s Groups, North Northamptonshire
About us
Brotherhood Men’s Groups is a peer-to-peer men’s mental health support service with groups across North Northamptonshire. Our groups give men a regular, honest space to talk, listen and be supported by other men. We also take on local community projects and organise social events and activities across all our locations.
About the role
Our Rothwell group meets at Rothwell Library and has been running for around 10 months with 5-8 regular attendees and a WhatsApp group of 15. We’re seeking a lead facilitator(s) who lives in Rothwell and is part of the community, to help build on this foundation from the inside and promote it where they live.
What you’ll do
Facilitate the Rothwell group every Thursday, 7-9pm
Be a point of contact for members on the group WhatsApp
Help organise and run social activities and local community projects
Promote the group and our services in the community
Attend regular supervision and check-ins with the facilitator network
What we’re looking for
A man aged 25 or over
Lives in or near Rothwell, with a connection to the local community
Some experience in a mental health-related role, or a good understanding of the challenges men face
Able to commit to Thursday evenings (cover available with notice)
Comfortable holding a room and listening well
Commitment
We ask for a minimum of 12 months commitment, with 2 months’ notice if you want to step back, to ensure we can maintain the service we offer. We want someone who is keen to run with this and make the group their own - to be the face of The Brotherhood in Rothwell.
Beyond the weekly session hours, you may expect up to an additional 4 hours a month to manage the WhatsApp and promote the group.
What you’ll get
Mental Health First Aid training, facilitator training, safeguarding and signposting
Regular supervision and check-ins from the facilitator network
Cover from other facilitators when you can’t make a session
A Brotherhood tee and sweatshirt, and all the equipment you need for sessions
A chance to make a real difference locally and be part of a supportive community of men
All group costs are covered, so there is no outlay for you.
