THRAPSTON
thursdays 7-9pm
The Brotherhood is free to attend and open to all men aged 18+. There’s no need to book, simply make sure you turn up a little before the start time to give you a chance to settle in. One of our facilitators will be on hand to greet you - you’ll recognise them by their branded shirt.
During the session we ask questions and make sure every man gets his own chance to talk. We begin each session with an update on how our weeks have been, followed by a round for anything you need to get off your chest. We’ll then break for another cuppa and aim to end on some lighter questions in the second half to help us get to know each other more. There’s no expectation and you can say as much or as little as you want.
If you have any further questions or would like to arrange for a facilitator to meet you outside for your first visit, please get in touch.
How it works
What to expect
Men often tell us they felt anxious before their first visit to the brotherhood - it’s completely understandable going into an unknown environment when you don’t know what to expect. But they also consistently leave feeling so much lighter and pleased they showed up.
A common misconception is we’re just a bunch of guys sat in a circle, “sharing our feelings and crying”. Actually, that’s fair enough! We do sit in a circle, we talk, we share real experiences, trauma and struggles, but we also share our victories and support each other. First and foremost we listen. Tears can happen and they are always welcome, just as the laughs are.
What we are is a community of men who understand that we need to speak to other men to vent, learn and grow. To help us put down our baggage and show up as the best we can be for our families, friends and local community.
So shake off any misconceptions about the group and come try it for yourself. We look forward to meeting you.
lead facilitator:
Max kemp
Max is the lead facilitator for Thrapston Brotherhood. By day, he works as a local tattooist and artist at Luel Studios, which is also the venue for the group’s meet-ups.
Max has lived around these fields and forests his whole life and has a strong admiration for the communities and people in this area.
He discovered the Brotherhood while looking into local social organisations and positive mental health initiatives, and immediately connected with the ethos and values of the group. Now, a year later, he has been running the group every Thursday at 7pm and has welcomed over 100 different men through the doors.
Max will be there to welcome you when you first attend and to help you settle in.
